Mary McDuffie’s Message to Members

With September underway, I can’t help but reflect on this period of great transition and the memories that are being stirred up.

I’d like to take a moment at this time to pause and recognize the 20th anniversary of September 11th. It’s a day many of us will never forget—from where we were to what we were doing. Each anniversary gives us an opportunity to reflect on the lives of our fellow Americans lost that day and to commemorate the bravery and selflessness of our first responders on that day.

For many, September 11th was also the calling to serve our country. We salute the thousands who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and all who supported them, over the past 20 years. Although I know the recent developments coming out of Afghanistan have been concerning, I want to again extend my deepest thanks and appreciation to all our Active Duty currently serving overseas and our veterans for their commitment, courage and dedication to your fellow servicemembers, and all of us at home. Your sacrifices–and those of your families–have not gone unnoticed.

Your resiliency and driving spirit inspire all of us here at Navy Federal, and has led us to do everything we can to reflect this guiding principle in the service we provide. We have truly made our members the mission, and I am incredibly proud to associate with you all. It is for these reasons that I’m stressing the following concern.

With September being National Preparedness Month, please take precautions now to ensure the well-being of your family, both physically and financially. An already particularly active storm season has taken aim at our neighbors along the Gulf Coast, causing flooding in the northeast, and wildfires have swept across the west. But as you know, Mother Nature can strike anywhere and any time. With that said, I’d like to encourage our entire Navy Federal family to take all available steps to protect yourselves from the potentially devastating health and economic impacts.

Please enjoy these last few weeks of summer. And as your fall gets underway, know that we’re here for you at Navy Federal. We have resources available to make your financial goals a reality and assistance if you need it. We are continually proud to serve this community. As always—just let us know how we can help.

Sincerely,

Mary McDuffie
