I hope you all have been staying safe and healthy at this busy time of year. Last week, we held our first-ever virtual Annual Meeting. It had originally been scheduled for April, but we postponed to the end of September, hoping that we would be able to meet in person. Sadly, that was not the case, but Chairman Lockard and I reflected on the great year we had in 2019. We also reviewed some of the major developments of 2020 as we’ve responded to help members through the pandemic. Bottom line, Navy Federal remains safe and sound and dedicated to serving you all through these challenging times.
One thing the pandemic has taught us all is the importance of a solid savings plan. With October being National Financial Planning Month, now is a good a time to take stock of your financial situation in general. It’s never too early to start preparing for your future—whether it’s for retirement or for a rainy day. If you have the opportunity and means to start planning, do so.
We also recognize the challenges that are part of this year’s back-to-school experience and are here to help with the transition. As many families with school-aged children are already seeing, being able to successfully juggle remote learning for their kids while they manage their own busy work schedules can be difficult. So if you find yourself in this situation, it’s important to make adequate preparations—both logistically and financially—to ease the pressure.
October is also National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the month dedicated to protecting your digital information—a critical part of what it takes to keep your finances secure. Everything from protecting your devices from viruses or malware to safeguarding your transactions is within your control, and we’ve got tips on how you, too, can take proactive steps today.
There’s no question—life will occasionally throw curveballs at us. But with the support of your friends, family and your Navy Federal team, I’m confident we’ll get through it. We’ll continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and adjust our branch operations as needed, so be sure to check our site or app for your local branch hours before you plan a visit.
So feel free to call us. Message us. Contact us however is best for you. We’re here to help.
