It’s our mission to serve and support our members every day—and this month, we’re taking extra care as we celebrate our more than 1.5 million veteran members. We know actions speak louder than words when it comes to recognizing our servicemembers. That’s what inspired us to create the #GratitudeMission, a collection of virtual events, services and other expressions of thanks to connect with veterans and help them build their financial security.

Find Your Best City After Service

Our 2020 “Best Cities After Service” is here! Explore the best places for veterans to live when they’re transitioning from Active Duty to civilian life. On the list, you’ll find a diverse group of cities to help every veteran find the right fit for their family and lifestyle. To rank these top cities, we considered things like income, unemployment rates, proximity to VA hospitals and military bases plus several quality-of-life measures. If you’re considering a move, this list is a great place to start! If not, check to see if your city made the list.

Help Us Support The Mission Continues®

The Mission Continues is a non-profit organization that supports veterans and encourages them to continue their service, and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact. We support their mission and are excited to match every donation made in the month of November, up to $50,000! Learn more and donate today. You can spread the word about your donation using #GratitudeMission.

Nominate an Inspiring Veteran

We want to hear about the inspiring veterans in your life! Share a photo and story about them and your submission could even earn you a prize. Submit your entry before Nov. 13 and look for the winner announcements on Instagram and Facebook at the end of the month. Use #GratitudeMission to follow along on social.

Join Our Tough Mudder® Challenge

Looking for a way to test your mental and physical fitness? Tough Mudder Challenges are about bringing motivation, fitness and some much-needed fun back into your life, and getting it to stick. This year, virtual Tough Mudder events may look a little different, but they'll still bring you an exciting series of events to conquer.

Over the course of 21 days, you'll take on a series of challenges. But you won't do it alone—you'll have a community of thousands of new Mudders taking part in the Challenge right alongside you, encouraging you all the way to the finish line.

We partnered with Tough Mudder for the month of November to bring you a special Challenge—Mission: Sea to Space. In this military-inspired event, veterans, Active Duty and family members can push their mental grit and physical strength to new limits. The challenges will represent each branch of service and include Naval Knot tying, the US Army Physical Fitness Test and a Night Watch. You'll go from sea, to land and through space. We challenge you to join forces, test your limits and complete this mission.

Use #GratitudeMission to share your journey on social, and we’ll highlight stories throughout the month.

Learn About Organizations That Support Vets

We’re proud to partner with several organizations that support veterans all year long. From transitioning to veteran life, creating and sending care packages, career and resume help, and much more, each organization provides services to veterans (and servicemembers) that meet our mission to help veterans live the life they want to live.

Operation Homefront: Operation Homefront understands the many challenges veterans and their families face while transitioning from a military to civilian community and has programs that support the reintegration into civilian life. We worked together with Operation Homefront to put together the “Best Cities After Service” as well.

Operation Gratitude: For more than 17 years, Operation Gratitude has hosted monthly Assembly Days, where up to 1,000 community volunteers come together to assemble signature care packages for Active Duty, first responders and veterans.

Hire Heroes USA: Hire Heroes USA provides free job search assistance to U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses, and helps companies connect with opportunities to hire them.

American Freedom Foundation: American Freedom Foundation offers several resources and partners that help veterans and their families, such as Warriors to the Workforce hiring events for veterans, transitioning servicemembers and military spouses.

Meet Lauren Tamm of The Military Wife and Mom

Lauren is the founder of The Military Wife and Mom blog, where she shares stories and advice about practical parenting and enjoying motherhood while thriving during the ups and downs of military life. This month, she’s sharing some of her favorite ways to thank veterans in your life, without actually saying ‘thank you’.

The service, strength and sacrifice of veterans are what inspire our service, every day. Join us this month in our #GratitudeMission as we show our commitment to helping veterans—and all members—live their best lives.
