Credit Union gives $15,000 combined towards members’ college expenses

VIENNA, VA (October 23, 2024) – Navy Federal Credit Union, today, announced the completion of its 2024 Student Loans Scholarship Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes gave eligible members the opportunity to enter to win a $5,000 scholarship for college tuition, room, and board for the 2024-2025 school year. Navy Federal selected 3 grand prize winners, all of whom received $5,000 to their college or university.

Thanks to this sweepstakes, winner Kaison M., who is a student at The Virginia Military Institute (VMI), is excited to see how this scholarship will help to further his future goals. He said, “This prize expanded my relief and gratefulness to a financial level which further helps me push to get a commission into the United States Air Force at VMI.”

Winner Kim C. said, “It’s not every day that this happens!” when asked how she felt upon hearing the news that she had won the sweepstakes. She said, “This will be extremely helpful. We had a goal to get my son through his first two years of college with zero debt. This has guaranteed that he will start his 3rd year in college with no debt.”

“Here at Navy Federal Credit Union, we’re committed to furthering our members’ financial and life goals,” said Caroline Currie, assistant vice president of education lending at Navy Federal Credit Union. “I’m thrilled for all of our winners, hearing how these funds will help them to achieve their future goals just goes to show the impact that our work can have in our members’ everyday lives.”
