From Volunteer to Champion: When Giving Back Goes Further

VIENNA, VA (September 29, 2026) – A handwritten letter. A care package. A small gesture that reminds someone they're not forgotten.

For Navy Federal Credit Union team member Lindsey Ramsey, volunteering with Soldiers' Angels is a meaningful way to support the military community that has supported her own family. Now, through Navy Federal's Dollars for Doers program, her volunteer efforts are helping expand that impact with a $1,000 grant to the nonprofit organization she champions.

Soldiers' Angels is one of 100 nonprofits nationwide selected to receive a grant through Navy Federal's nomination-based Dollars for Doers program, which recognizes organizations where employees generously donate their time and talents. The initiative celebrates volunteerism while amplifying team member impact through employer-backed philanthropic giving.

As a military spouse, Ramsey was drawn to Soldiers' Angels because of their commitment to supporting service members, veterans and military families at every stage of their journey.

"I was inspired to get involved because I truly connect with Soldiers' Angels' mission of supporting both active-duty service members and veterans," Ramsey said. "I appreciate that there are so many ways to make a difference, whether it's helping provide food assistance to military families and veterans, supporting care package programs for deployed service members or participating in special volunteer initiatives throughout the year."

Since 2024, Ramsey has supported Soldiers' Angels through a variety of volunteer activities, including writing letters to deployed service members, mailing items for care packages and participating in donation drives that provide essential resources to military members, veterans and their families.

The grant reflects Navy Federal's longstanding commitment to service and community impact. Through Navy Federal Serves, team members are encouraged and empowered to support causes they care about through paid volunteer leave and volunteer opportunities across the communities where they live and work.

In 2025, more than 11,000 Navy Federal team members, representing 43% of the workforce, volunteered through paid volunteer leave, contributing more than 63,000 hours of service across 602 volunteer opportunities. Nearly one-quarter of this year's Dollars for Doers grants support organizations that serve military families and veterans.

Dollars for Doers complements Navy Federal's broader philanthropic and community impact strategy, which focuses on advancing the financial health of the military community and strengthening the communities where its members and employees live and work.

The Dollars for Doers grant will help Soldiers' Angels continue providing critical support to active-duty service members, veterans and military families through food assistance programs, care package initiatives and other volunteer-driven services.
