How It Works

  1. Deposit at least $200 (up to $5,000) into your membership savings account.
  2. Submit your application. If approved, we’ll hold the deposit in your account as security. The amount you deposit will be your card’s spending limit.
  3. After just 3 months, you could be eligible for a credit limit increase. You don’t have to add to your deposit in order to be eligible. Whether your credit limit is increased will depend on your current credit limit and other factors.
  4. After 6 months, we’ll review your credit card account monthly to see if you’re eligible for an upgrade to a cashRewards unsecured card. Once you upgrade, you’ll get your security deposit back. Making on-time payments and keeping your balance under the credit limit can help you with approval for an upgrade to an unsecured card.

More About nRewards

A secured credit card is just like a regular credit card, except that it requires a security deposit. Your deposit is returned to you when you close your credit card account or switch to an unsecured card. If you have no credit or low credit, a secured card can provide you with a path to building or repairing your credit. As you use your card, you’ll earn rewards, while also earning dividends on your deposit that’s held in your savings account.

Earn when you spend. Continue to accrue rewards until you’re ready to redeem. Just keep in mind—rewards expire after 4 years after they are earned or on the day the account is closed, whichever is earlier.Footnote 1

For terms and conditions, see the nRewards Card Program Description.
