FAQs
What is a VA interest rate reduction refinance loan, and what are the benefits?
A VA interest rate reduction refinance loan, also known as an IRRRL or a VA streamline refinance, is a mortgage refinance option for Veterans who have an existing VA loan. It lets homeowners refinance an existing VA loan to a new VA loan with a lower interest rate. You can also convert an adjustable-rate VA loan to a fixed interest rate with stable payments.
Who is eligible for a VA IRRRL?
Veterans who have a seasoned VA loan and have made at least 6 on-time consecutive payments may be qualified for a VA IRRRL. After you apply, a loan officer will reach out to confirm your eligibility. A VA loan is generally considered seasoned 210 days after the first mortgage payment.
Do I need a new Certificate of Eligibility (COE) in order to get an IRRRL?
No. You don't need a new COE because an VA IRRRL can only be used on an existing VA loan, so we know you're eligible.
