Important information about opening a new account:

USA Patriot Act: Federal law requires that we obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account, including joint owners. Within this application, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents. Approval of your application may be delayed pending further verification of your identity.

Consumer Reports: By submitting an application, you authorize Navy Federal to obtain a consumer credit report to evaluate your creditworthiness so that you may be considered for other Navy Federal products and services. You also authorize Navy Federal to obtain consumer reports for purposes of evaluating the membership application and reviewing any Navy Federal accounts you open. You understand these reports may be used in decisions to deny account applications, close accounts, and/or restrict accounts or services.

Family Members

    If you have an immediate family member who has joined or one who is eligible to join, you can become a Navy Federal member. Immediate family members include grandparents, parents, spouses, siblings, grandchildren, children (including adopted and stepchildren) and household members.

    In the application process, family and household members are referred to as "sponsors" (the person through whom you're eligible for membership).

You'll need the following to join
the credit union:
  • Sponsor's last name
  • Sponsor's Access Number or last four digits of their SSN and date of birth
  • Sponsor's affiliation (e.g., Army, Navy, Contractor)
Adding a Joint Owner?

A joint owner shares access to your account but isn't a member of Navy Federal.

You'll need to provide the following joint owner information:

  • Social Security Number
  • Driver's license or a government ID
  • Current home address (previous address is required if at current address for less than two years)
