What You Need to Apply for a Mortgage
When you apply for a mortgage, you'll need to provide information about your employment and financial history. Having this information ready ahead of time will help the process move ahead quickly.
Here's what we typically need for all borrowers on the loan.
Identifying Information
These items will help us confirm your identity and get the mortgage process started.
- Date of birth
- Social Security number
- Navy Federal Share Savings account number
- 2-year address history
Proof of Income
We'll verify your income to make sure you're able to pay your home loan back.
- 2-year work history
- Gross monthly income to be used for qualifying for a mortgage (this doesn't include self-employed earnings)
- Any other income to be considered for qualifying
- Additional documentation about your income, if you're self-employed
Other Financial Information
Your assets, debts and other liabilities help us understand your overall financial picture.
- Your deposit account and asset information from all financial institutions that you'll be using for loan qualification
- Current property tax, homeowners/condo dues, insurance and lien information on the properties you own
- Source of down payment
Additional information may be needed based on the type of mortgage you're applying for. For example: Navy Federal will request a Certificate of Eligibility on behalf of VA loan applicants.
Property and Loan Information
You'll also need to provide the following information about the property you wish to purchase.
- Purchase price
- Estimated homeowners/condo association dues, on property
- Type of property
- Property address
